Beal: From cord to rope
When Pierre and Janine Béal founded their namesake label in Vienne in 1951, they initially focused on producing cords and shoelaces. It was to be over 20 years before their son Michel joined the company in the mid-1970s and Béal finally became one of the most important manufacturers of kernmantle ropes. Béal is still in family hands... Today, the founder's grandsons, Philippe and Frédéric, are the third generation to run the company.

However, anyone who thinks of ropes only in terms of climbing will soon be disabused by Béal. Although Béal ropes are indispensable in sports such as climbing, canyoning, and caving, they are also used in rescue operations, industrial applications, and tree work. Ropes and all textile components such as harnesses, straps, slings, and bags are manufactured in the company's factory in Madagascar and sold worldwide under the brand names Béal and Edelweiss in over 70 countries.

Technology, handling & safety: innovations at Beal
Thanks to a constant exchange with renowned experts such as climbing legend Patrick Edlinger, Béal has developed pioneering innovations that set industry standards. Climbing ropes from Béal are not only made from unique dynamics. Above all, they are impressed with technologies such as UniCore, Dry Cover, and Golden Dry, which outperform the competition regarding catch stop and durability. Béal climbing ropes score points with a low impact force (around 1kN less than comparable styles), guaranteeing less strain and more safety for everyone involved and the material. Unicore technology prevents sheath slippage in climbing ropes by elaborately bonding the core and sheath together without compromising the dynamic benefits and handling. Significant side effect: the service life of the rope is increased

Béal Golden Dry vs. Dry Cover
Béal goes one step further in terms of service life. The Dry Cover and Golden Dry processes are unique water-repellency treatments that make the ropes more resistant and durable. While every thread of the rope sheath is treated before production in the Dry Cover process (by polymerization at high temperatures), the French company performs better with the Golden Dry technique. Also, it treats the rope's core, which results in low water absorption, and certifies the rope as UIAA Water Repellent.

Sustainable dreams of the future
At Béal, safety, sustainability, and traditional values are not necessarily mutually exclusive. The ropes are made from 100% polyamide and are fully recyclable to contribute to climate protection. Every year, Béal takes back 20 tons of old ropes to recycle them. Béal has been supporting the "One Rope - one tree" reforestation project in Madagascar since 2007. As a result, over 700,000 trees have already been planted.

With the new slogan "Highly Friendly", Béal also wants to reiterate values such as family, friendship and tradition, while at the same time focusing on innovation and progress to actively shape the future of climbing.
